Buy a Chilton's repair manual for the car, and read this section before you decide if you want to try this. Some things are worth taking to a mechanic.

it's not hard. just have to connect the coolant lines and plug in the fan.

but it's a big job taking the dash apart to get to the heater core.

we had an old truck we just left the old heater in there, and put the new core underneath it. with a few feet of radiator hose we plugged in the new one, bypassing the old one, then hung it up with some old coat hangers so it's not laying on the floor. didn't take more than two hours that truck still runs and makes good heat.

it's a major job and can take several days depending on experience. A quick fix is stop leak, like Bars Leak or Block sealer :)

the secret to not blowing them, is change your antifreeze every 3 years and never, NEVER redline your engine, keep it under 5000 rpm, because the the faster the engine goes the more pressure the water pump makes. This is a serious design flaw in Fords especially

these are ugly , as was said above the whole dash and such has to come out , that's why these "fox bodies" show up for $200 , runs great , needs heater core , is this car rust free and cherry ? does the person doing it have a manual or experience doing this ? good luck.

Most cases require removing the dash panel which you may not be able to do yourself.

Don't even try to do it yourself! It takes maybe like 7 hours and you have to take out the dashboard to do it.

sometimes you have to remove the dash panel, if you think you can't do it, it will be better to take it to an auto repair shop
