My absolute favorites were the people who would ask me if something would look good in their house. How was I supposed to know?

I am not sure what you mean. Are you a sales clerk in a store? If that is the case I can answer as a consumer.

Most clerks act as if you are bothering them if you ask a question or expect them to wait on you. I always wonder WHY people have a service position if they dislike waiting on customers that much??!!

NO ONE had answered this question when I did. I saw and read the others after I had posted. I THINK there is a problem.

IF you choose to work in retail, you are whatever the customer wants. What happened to the old, "the customer is always right?"
It's like the waitress/waiter that says, "Hey, I don't wait on my family like that". Maybe not, but that is what you are being paid to do. If a customer wants to ask more than one question, you are supposed to answer it with a smile and ask them if they have another one to ask...................................

Yes, some people are very needy, but maybe that's because customer service at most stores tottally sucks. There are some great retail workers out there, but most are rude and unhelpful.

You're my hero!

They cannot see what is right in front of them and when I find it for them they do not even thank me for it.

People complain that common courtesy is dead -- it is my customers who killed it, not I!

edit -- I am more than happy to help when help is needed. I have received much accolade at my store for superior customer service.

Nonetheless, there are still those customers who will be unhappy no matter what you do for them. The customer is *NOT* always right -- not when they try to cheat my store and insult my staff.

Yes, it is quite funny at times. Especially when someone comes in and asks you to help them find something and then once you have found it for them, they pull out their list and ask you to find every item on it. Do they think I'm their personnel shopper?
