i agree with kimberly. i've been using the garlic nailpolish (that doesn't smell like garlic when dry), and in the past week, my nails became stronger and are growing out. as for not biting, the way i got over it was in middle school. i had to stay over at a friend's for a few nights and was too ashamed to bite my nails in public...so i didn't. and that stuck with me. as for acrylic nails, they're fun to have, but its a pain taking them off and your natural nails will be damaged.

I had the same thing. One of my sisters and I were looking at our nails and wondering why they were so thin, peeling, and cruddy, and then we looked at our 3rd sister's nails, and they were thick and strong! Difference? My 3rd sister takes multivitamins daily, while my other sister and I didn't, and we also ate junk with little nutritional value. We had vitamin deficiencies! My nails were so thin, I had a habit of tearing them off, which didn't help.

I've now been taking multivitamins (I get them at Costco, very cost efficient) since August, and you can see this ridge of thicker nail as my nails grow out. Pretty cool, really. The thicker nail has almost grown to the tips of my fingernails.... almost there!

They say that taking vitamins won't make your nails grow, but if you've got vitamin deficiencies like I did, it will certainly make them grow thicker.

you should try a silk wrap or acrylic tips until your nails grow i suggest the wrap because it isn't as damaging when you ttake it off. and when you see your nails grown out make sure to keep them up. I have a stress habit of bitting my cuticles and the only time i don't do it is when my nails are done so i have nice pretty hands all the way around I'm so vain. but paying the money to cut such a disgusting habit is almost i can't say absolutely worth it but almost.

If you want natural nails, try taking Biotin. It wll help your nails grow faster and stronger. But you still have to make a conscious decision to stop biting them.

If you want to stop biting them, I suggest getting acrylic nails/tips at your local salon. You can get them any length you want, any shape, and color. They will look natural, and you won't want to bite them because they will be very hard, and they will look very nice. I wear them all the time.

Regular manicures...regular massage of the hands will help to improve blood circulation and help in nail building. Also gets lots of calcium and protein.

If you don't mind getting fake nails...definitely try tips but keep in mind that it requires regular maintance

Eat alot of protein, keep them polished at all times as water weakens them & force yourself to bite something else-like a straw or something. It'll work!
