I feel like a lot people and myself sometimes use these terms very loosely. Sure I have been discriminated against a few times in the past but I don't see that the same as experiencing racism. I consider experiencing racism to be when someone prevents someones else from doing something because of their skin color.

I think prejudice is a broader term. It can mean discriminating against someone for their race, gender, age, sexual orientation, etc, etc. Racism is a form of prejudice.

I think racism includes what you have mentioned above as well as prejudice against others, regarding their skin colors. Some times racism isn't only displayed in term of actions but also verbal and attitude. This is a very sensitive area of conversation so I guess if you are unsure whether you will insult someone or not, then better not say anything about it at all.

Being prejudice covers things in general whether you judge someone's action, attitude, or themselve without getting to know them at all. It's like jumping into a conclusion based solely on what you believe.

sample, I am prejudices against Homosexuals, that are trying to manipulate me or others to join them., other than that I am not racist, until some other color individual and or religious come about telling me, that they know or straight on they are better that my self or someone else. Same as Racism, if they can be without imposing, the wrong thing I got nothing against, I don't like the way United state people call their self Americans not allowing any one else from the American Continent to do the same, which is also a form of patronizing well practice by England, which calls U.S, their State???> what's wrong then???.

If you hold to the belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others or if you are prejudice based on race, then you are a racist.
You should note that racism does not need POWER. You do not have to be the MAN in order to have a "belief". I am a white man and I think that most Japanese (in general) are smarter than most whites, so that makes me a racist by definition.
You should also look at the word bigot!
If you are strongly partial to your own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ, then you are a bigot.
So is the NAACP strongly partial to their own race?
Are Baptist strongly partial to their own religion?
Are Americans intolerant to Militant Muslims?

Racism is hating an entire population just because. You could have won the Nobel Peace Prize, but if you are another race, someone will hate you. Discrimination is picking on a look or a sect. You are a store owner and will not let people in with a hole in their shirt. They can own the biggest corporation in the area, but that little hole, you stay out.

In answer on your question, no. custom and race are thoroughly distinctive. You look to apply "black" as a cultural definition. you're conscious, I presume, that there are various distinctive, diverse cultures springing up in Africa and interior the hot worldwide between human beings of a dismal epidermis colour? West Africans have little or no in elementary with, say, Ethiopians, in terms of custom, and Sudanese have little or no in elementary, culturally, with Dominicans or Haitians. in short, that's the place your argument falls aside. Race and custom at the instant are not interchangeable words. American Indians? What are the cultural similarities between say the Navajo and the Iroquois? Hispanic or Spanish audio device? What are the cultural similarities between Puerto Ricans, Argentinians and Sonoran Mexicans? Asians? Similarities between Manchu chinese language, jap and Indians? Do you spot the priority? in case you have been actual conversing some cultural team, then it does not be the least racist to make some generalizations, admitting that generalizations are, of direction, no longer consistently precise whilst utilized to a individual. yet once you're making generalizations for the duration of cultural lines based completely upon the colour of one's epidermis or the form of their eyelid, then you truly're being silly and insensitive, and a minimum of arguably racist.

They are both the same, both fueled by hatred.

Racism is against a persons race such as white, black, arabic, hispanic, etc...

Prejudice can be for anything including race, religion, nationality, sexual preference, music preference, fashion style, etc. I've seen lots of prejudice for the stupidest reasons.

No matter what type it is, its hatred against someone for something. There is no need for more hatred in this world, there already is too much.
