I just love the name Bresea (Bruh-say-uh) for a girl but do you think if I was to my baby that, I would be setting her up for trouble later in life? Such as wrong pronunciation, or getting teased be other kids??

I haven't found out the sex of the baby yet, I
have another week or so... but for the middle I was thinking Eve.
Bresea Eve . I have a thing for old exotic names. The original name I got it from was Briseis. (Bree-say-us) I don't know, I think about it more when I find out TY all.

Quite honestly I had never heard of the name before and I did pronounce it wrong when I first saw it, but I think it's a beautiful name, though maybe change the spelling so it is easier to pronounce, but remember it's completely your decision what you name your baby; as a name it really is very pretty - good choice and good luck, Andie

My name is Kirsten Martina, and I have had a lot of people hesitate on how to pronounce my first name, but in some ways that can be good. For one thing, you get some extra time and attention that way :D.(BTW, it is Keer-sten, not Kur-sten)
I only had one incident in my life where I was teased by a dorky dude in junior high, but he finally figured out he wasn't that funny because my name doesn't really sound like anything insulting ,and Neither does Bresea,(well maybe "brazier", but that's a stretch) so I bet she will be okay. I used to kinda be annoyed with having a "weird" name, but now I think it's kind of nice. I never get confused with anyone else that I work with . No one ever says "...Which Kirsten?" I am the only one with that name.

first of all what does that name mean? You should give your child a name with a great positive meaning. Bresea is a beautiful name. Just find out what it means and if it has a good meaning then use it and never mind about her getting teased or wrong pronunciations. People say my name wrong all the time. I just correct them and keep on pushing.

The name sounds pretty and Italian when it is explained, but when I first read it it read like Bree-see to me. I'm afraid a lot of people will mispronounce it or misspell it, and your child will have to keep explaining her name to people. Maybe putting an "h" at the end will help with the "say-uh" pronunciation.

Well its an unusual name as I have never heard of it before.
As for the trouble of pronunciation, yes. Cause I was saying the name out loud wrong until I read the way it is to be said. I was thinking bree-say

name her what ever you would like...but, so people can pronounce it right... i think you should spell it different ...maybe like "brusia, brusea bruseah" something like that...good luck...but then agin the others are right, kids can be cruel...you wouldnt want that name to add to her problems......ohh better yet, why dont you have bresea has her middle name....people usually call only first and last names for attendance at school, doctors, etc....but when she is asked from a friend what her middle name is she will say it herself(pronouncing it correctly).i think you should have it as her middle name..

remember that your child will have to learn to SAY and spell his/her name once in school.
for a child it can be FOREVER frustrating if they constantly have to correct ppl when they miss-pronounce their name. * i KNOW i have a different name*
as much as it is great to have a name like no other, it is very annoying when its spelling and sound is SO beyond the comprehension level of other ppl. while you look at it and KNOW that is how it is said, other ppl will be thinking.
"poor kid!"
at first glance to me...Bresea (although beautiful in YOUR pronunciation of it) looked like Bree-see. to me..which sounds strange.
you can be unique and different without being OVERLY creative to the point of confusion.
try the name out on ppl you don't know in public. ask them if they could understand it, and/or if they like it. ask your family to give you input. if you have your heart set on that name...perhaps you and your family/friends could come up with a new way of spelling it so it's easier to read.

Well it's original and cute, but it will be pronounced wrong, everytime. It looks like Bre-say or. If you choose that name, you need to spell it different, maybe Brasea or Brasaeh. Eve is a cute middle name.

As for being made fun of just becarefull what you make the middle name and that it doesn't sound funny w/the last name...she'll be changing that afterwhile anyways LOL.

I think she will have a lot of trouble with people mispronouncing it, misspelling it, questioning her about it, and teasing her. However, just about all of us face one or the other of those problems. If you really love the name, go ahead and name her that and then help learn to deal with whatever comes with it.
