~From the ages of 8 to 13, I worked during the summers in my uncle's orchard picking and sorting peaches for 10 cents a bushel (and all the peaches I could eat).
At age 11, I started babysitting for 25 cents per hour which was the going rate in those days.
My first "commercial" job was at age 14. I worked at a donut shop before and after school and on Saturdays. Throughout my high school years, I worked during the summers at various jobs: waitress, babysitter, house cleaner, lawn mower, cashier and my favorite, a dog walker.
It was a good experience and by the time I was graduated from high school I had a hefty savings account.

I had just turned 16 and got a job at a pizza place. I was making whatever min wage was at the time, probably $4.25 or so. The owner was this big fat guy that called me Bambi. I hated that, and now everytime Carla (on Scrubs) calls JD "Bambi", I get flashbacks ("Charlie's in the trees! IN THE TREES!).

I was 14 and working as a secretary/file room clerk for my father's business. I basically was a Jill-of-All at the shop. I was paid $6.00 an hour, but only worked three hours a week. It was still better than my allowance.
