The brontok.c virus spread like wildfire thru my college's comp labs some months ago. The infected computer put copies of the virus into each and every folder on any USB or floppy you inserted in it.
But here's the tricky part: though the virus was EXE file, it's icon was that of a folder's. Meaning that if the pc was set to ignore file extensions (which is annoyingly the default setting), you coudln't differentiate between folder, and exe-file. we just double-clicked on the damned virus as if it was a folder!
if you're using windows xp or 2000, run a system restore to any date BEFORE you double-clicked on that worm. That has worked with 2 of my friends here.
And this thing doesn't infect any of your documents. back-em up if you can.
next, run a search (start>search or find), enter *.exe , look in all drives, with searching inside hidden/system folders enabled. If you see any small exe files with a folder icon, delete them immediately. Don't worry about infection: you have to double-click (run) them to let the infect your pc. otherwise they're just sitting ducks.
and here's a link about the virus http://www.sophos.com/security/analyses/w32brontokc.html

I think AVG Anti Virus can remove it.. Why don't you try installing the AVG free version, update it and do a scan in safe mode.. My AVG has detected this worm each time my friend uses my pc to do her assigment and using her flash drive. She had to use my AVG program to clean her flash drive off the virus. She loves opening her emails and all the attachments! I think her flash drive was infected because she didn't update her AVG program on her pc. She uses my pc because she had sent pc back to her hometown. . Hope this helps.

You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at
http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html
If antivirus and spyware remover software does not work, you can try to restore the computer to an older working configuration. Detailed instructions are posted at http://fixit.in/systemrestore.html
