For Democrats, the idea of split party control is only good if the Republicans are in power. If they are in power then split party control is "gridlock" and people should give them power in all areas.

Balance in general is good. But since neither party really cares about what's best for the country, what does it matter.
Crusader, you hit the nail on the head.
And for the blank poster who thinks the looters (aka Democrats) are the ones who make the tough decisions and put the needs of the country first, what have you been smoking. What was the Groper-in-Chief thinking about when he bombed an aspirin factory to draw attention from his sex scandal? I'm sure that was a tough decision.
Or what about John Kerry who voted for the war before he voted against it?
Send a message to both parties and vote Libertarian!!!

That's a good question. I've thought for a long time that the two branches of government should be split. If 2008 rolls around and it looks like the dems have a lock on maintaining control of the congress then I would consider voting for the republican. Obviously it would depend on the candidate.

Crusader...you obviously forgot the Gingrich years you hypocrit.
Personally a Dem white house and a Rep congress works best. The Dems can make the tough choices and put the needs of the country first and the republicans can pretend to care about Conservatice issues again (small government, sound fiscal policies) and force the WH to keep spending in check.

that why people should vote for John McCain. If a democrat wins the country will see how corrupt they are too and then a republican will get elected the next time around.

Balance of power is the best, this is the way it should be with the split of the branches like this.

I don't understand your question but having parties in politics is bad in general. Parties sway the vote so that people are voting to increase their power rather than to make the country better.
