Ya, then they hit the brakes when you get to close to let them to let them know you want by or speed up when you pass on the right :(
if you aren't keeping up with the flow, you should move over no matter what speed you are going!
it does help fight congestion, the faster the flow the more traffic our freeways can handle :)
a simple fix would be to assign different speed limits to each lane, in Texas, Left to right, 80, 75, 70

I'm not a road rage maniac driver, but I read online about speed limits before and usually the posted speed limit is something like 5-10 mph lower than the actual safe limit you can drive on a certain road. So if it says 50, technically you can safely drive 55-60 but if you're doing 60 you can get pulled over. I know some places cops are stricter and pull over people for every little violation, and some places they are more lenient. I live in Northern VA/D.C. region and a lot of people speed. I personally think if everyone drives at the speed the flow of traffic is going, there wouldn't be as many problems. It's the crazy fast speeders and the ones driving way below the speed limit that piss everyone off, creates road rage and can lead to distractions and accidents. If I'm on a road pretty much by myself I do the speed limit, or in a neighborhood, but if I'm on a highway or faster road I drive as fast as the majority of other drivers. Just let people over if they've been waiting awhile, let others pass you, and try to keep things positive. If you're purposely trying to prevent someone from passing, it will only make things worse. If someone is speeding, eventually they will get pulled over. If they're driving dangerously, write down the liscence plate number and call #77. Basically, be courteous, and if you let someone over they will be grateful and more likely to do it to another driver.

I don't think so. And while you are on the subject of inconsiderate/stupid/ignorant drivers, what is up with people at an intersection, both stop sign and light. If they are turning right, they get over into the left side of their lane as if they are towing a 45 foot trailer and need the swing room. Or if they are turning left, they sit and block the people wanting to turn right on red like permitted in most places. AND they don't pull up into the intersection when the light turns green.
Okay, excuse me while I put my soapbox away...

Their driver training didn't emphasize those simple principles! Blocking the left lane says you have no respect for the rights of other drivers and emergency vehicles.
Remember: Your job as a driver is not to enforce the speed limit by blocking the left passing lane! Do you want other drivers to decide whether you should be allowed to pass or not??

It isn't that they don't read signs just a lot of drivers think that it is a right not a privilege to drive...a lot of people think that because they can put the key in the ignition and put it in gear is all they need..rules and laws are their to protect ALL drivers...what about the 90% of people who don't use or only sometimes use a directional? Manufactures put them in for a reason. I am proud to be considered a safe driver not only by my insurance company but it is stated on my license too.

about as much as they read the speed limit signs, yes slower traffic keep right, but the faster lanes are suppose to be going the speed limit at max, and thats in good driving conditions,,,,, its amazing how irritated some get when you are doing the speed limit,,, they act like you should be in a slow lane!!

just to let people know in Europe it is illegal for large commercial trucks such as semi's to drive in the left lane this helps to keep traffic flowing maybe it should be a rule we adopt!!! with a few additions and new laws that are actually enforced i believe it could work out

No I don't think they do. My favorite is the guy sitting in the left lane refusing to move for anyone. If you flash your high beams he will flip you off as if you were doing something wrong. They are totally oblivious to the world around them

No, nobody really does. That's what the cops are supposed to be for, but there are never on the roads where the violations need to be enforced.
