Does it happen just after eating, or do you get heartburn a lot also?

I had pain in the middle of my chest (the same area as the heart) and in the abdomen just beneath the sternum (breast bone) kinda near the stomach, but no heartburn. The pain got so bad once I though I was having a heart attack and made a visit to the emergency room. The doctor told me it was reflux (even though there was no heartburn), and the pains were from the irregular muscle spasms in the esophagus not an actual heart attack. I started developing the problem because I quit working out and gain weight. The extra weight was what was putting extra pressure on the stomach and caused the reflux.

If your pain symptoms are near the same locations as mine it could be early signs of reflux. Considering your only 15 it's unlikely that its an actual heart condition unless you have a family history of realatives suffering from heart disease in their teens. If you're on the heavy side and/or eat like a typical teenager (scarfing down a lot of food really fast) so you can get back to talking with friends and hanging out doing stuff (or rushing off to class) then your pains could be early signs of reflux like what I experienced.

If it mainly happens after eating and/or you get heartburn a lot is more likely its the early stages of reflux. My doctor gave me a list of things to try to treat the reflux and heartburn before having to resort to medication. If you don't have a family history of early heart disease you may want to try the following (it's the list the doctor gave me) maybe the problem will go away.

1) Stop (or at least cut down on) smoking. [I don't smoke, so this one's easy for me.]

2) Limit intake of coffee, tea, alcohol, and colas. [first 3 are no problem for me, but I drink a lot of sodas.]

3) Avoid spicy, acidic, tomato-based, or fatty foods like chocolate, citrus fruits, fruit juices, onion rings, pizza, and spagetti & meatballs. [This one is really tough for me, I love pizza.]

4) Don't gorge on big meals, eat small or moderately sized meals. [This one can be tough around the holidays (Thanksgiving through New Year's) where there are lots of home cooking or buffet-style celebrations.]

5) Watch your weight. Being overweight puts increased pressure in the abdomen that agrivates reflux and heartburn. [This is what I think really started my problem, I stopped working out and gained some weight a while back. Starting to be a little more active so I can drop the pounds.]

6) Avoid exercise or strenuous physical activity for 30 - 40 minutes after eating. [This one's easy for me right now until I start really getting back into a workout routine.]

7) Avoid eating 3 - 4 hours before bedtime, or avoid lying down for 3 - 4 hours after eating. [This one's tricky becuase I don't have a normal sleep pattern or eating pattern.]

8) If heartburn and reflux happen a lot while sleeping, raise the head of the bed on blocks by at least 6 inches. [Haven't had to do this yet.]

In any case you should tell your parents/guardians so that they are aware of the problem and can scedule an appointment for you. Keep in mind that even if the symptoms match and your experiencing everything I mentioned, your a teenage girl, and I've never been one, so you may need to see that doctor to be 100% sure of what you have.

Oh boy...a number of things could be causing this. Have you talked to an older adult about this..someone that could take you to the doctor.
It's very possible that it's something minor..such as eating the wrong foods and having heartburn and indigestion.
I would still say go to the doctor if this is causing you so much pain. You're right..you're 15 and shouldn't be having pain that's causing you to cry...

This honestly sounds like gas... little gas bubbles can get stuck in your chest! It happens to me regularly. Does is hurt when you try to take a deep breath in?? Thats how it is with me. But to be sure, tell your parents and see if you can go to a dr.
