Lately, our liquid d/w detergent has been caking up. It also spills all over the dishes and then hardens. Why isn't the d/w liquid getting cleaned/disbursed properly?

Sounds like your dishwasher is not filling with enough water... Do this simple check.. Start the dishwasher and after it is done filling with water open the door and check to see where the water level is... It should be no lower than a 1/4'' from the bottom of the heat element that is located at the bottom of your tub...

The water heater in your dishwasher may be broke. The water has to be very hot to dissolve it properly.
