Another pointer to the UK becoming the 51st state of the US.
Are they all trying to emulate National Lampoon's Christmas?
Since when did the definition of Christmas become how many light bulbs annoy your neighbours?
In this millennium, when the emphasis is on energy conservation, surely it's just the chavs that think it's "festive"

Oh, it's Christmas! If a person took the time (and expense) to set out some Christmas lights I'm gonna take it that they did it to spread the spirit of the season and just enjoy the show. Christmas is really for little kids and I know they enjoy seeing the lights, whether I consider some tacky or not! Sort of "eye of the beholder" type deal, don't you think?

well I'd have to say i love them, but I'm my community they are very tasteful and pretty. maybe it because I'm from a more expensive area..... i do hate tacky ones.. you can buy new LED(or some sort of thing) lights that use hardly any electricity and are more environmentally friendly. here they made the most by a branch off of the power company and are called powersmart or something, almost everyone has them here, its hard to find the old kind anymore!

Tacky waste of electricity? Light pollution? Some childhood you must have had Mr. Grinch! For your information, LCD lights are out this year, many people are conscience of the environment, and what one deems as tacky, may be beautiful to someone else.

I'm all for Christmas as much as the next bloke but some of the lightshows going on these days beggar belief. When I drive onto the mother-in-law's estate it's like entering an alternate reality where Christmas has gone bad. I keep expecting 'Papa Lazarou' to jump out from behind a bush wearing a Father Christmas outfit shouting "Hello Daaaave!"
Haven't these people ever heard of "less being more"?

No thanks.
When I choose to put up my decorations, it is a form of personal freedom to create something. I do my part to help with the environment, and my lights are on a timer.
Thanks for playing, but don't generalize the population to push your agenda.

Some people feel doing this creates a little thing called 'Christmas Spirit', including me. Ever heard of it? Oh, and some Christmas lights are, in fact, beautiful.

wouldn't classify myself anti christmas but I'm with you on the tacky lights..
I'll pretend that my main concern is the waste of electricity and global warming etc but, seriously, how can anyone possibly think their house looks good covered in all the sh@t of the day? Chavs only?
