Chameleons change color according to their mood or level of excitement, not their background. This is a common misconception.
For example the American green anole (not a true chameleon but exhibiting this same behavior) is a chocolate brown color when calm, but upon getting excited or frightened changes to bright green. When displaying aggression, they are bright green, and a black patch appears behind each eye.
Different species of chameleons all have their unique sets of color changes, all dependent on mood.

The "different lizards" interior the mirror will scare the chameleon and make turn a dismal green colour with blackish splotches whilst they attempt to combat off the "intruders". opposite to oftentimes going on theory chameleons do no longer replace colours to combination into their environments. whilst they get chilly they are going to turn a darker colour so as that it relatively is far less complicated to take up warmth. additionally, like I stated above, they are going to turn a darker colour whilst stressful, disillusioned, or scared.

Probably stress colour, thinking it was another chameleon.
Chameleons don't change colour based on what they are standing on, they change colour based on their mood.

Their default color is green,
I'd guess that they would stay that color.
