I could drawl on and on about shades that complement your skin tone, but my best advice is for you to get up and go down to the make-up counter at your local department store and have someone color match shades/hues to your EXACT skin tone. This service is free and you will be much happier that you did it. Even if you don't buy the products from a pro make-up line, you can still go to the drug store and find similar colors armed with this info.
Try MACs website as well for great ideas.

I would try Loreal True Match, they have foundations and blush that coordinate depending upon the color of your skin, it looks really natural. I would also try a cream shadow with a brown in the crease and a black mascara. Combine this with a color lip gloss that is just slightly darker than your natural lip color.
For an evening look add black eyeliner, the liquid kind so that you can get a finer line. And curl your lashes. I also like to add some lip liner, lightly put on then smudged over your lip, I prefer Wet N Wild 666 (it's cheap and seems to go with any completion) then put the gloss over that.

Hello, being in the mid 30's age bracket myself, neutral colors are the best choice for us. Also, using an under-makeup primer will help in making sure your foundation goes on evenly.
Colors are just that -- colors. As long as you don't apply the makeup too heavily, just about anyone can wear any color she chooses.
Here's an easy test too: if you look good in silver jewelry, you probably have cool skin tones. Pinks and light plums will look good on you. If you look good in yellow gold, then you probably have warmer skin tones. Greens, browns, and golds will look good on you.
The best tip: experiment with different colors and use a brush instead of an applicator with a sponge tip (the brush gives you a softer look). Also, have fun with the colors!

Like someone suggested below.. MAC And Clinique both have great options for your age. the best way to find your shade though is to try a little bit of foundation right below your jawline... or your wrist... the color should blend in with your skin

the best thing would be to go to a makeup counter at clinique or somewhere and have them show you the colors that would compliment your skin. it's free and you don't have to buy their products, tho clinique has great mascara, lipstick and eyeshadow. their whole line is great. it is pricey but great. but walmart has great makeup as well. i use loreal true match foundation. they have a color chart there that you hold up to your skin to find your foundation color and mine matches perfectly to my skin. also almay has eye makeup that is matched to eye colors. (you're not supposed to match your makeup to your clothes but to your eyes) good luck!!
