the practice of superiority of some and denegration of others are so constant in our culture. When will we realize that it it ultimately counter productive?

That's a great point. I think some people get a pathologic high from putting others down. I'm blessed that no one in my circle of family, friends or neighbors is that way.

Actually, no...People who are manipulative are that way for the same reason that other people aren't. We LEARN through experience what works to get us the things we want. If in your childhood you learned that the most successul approach to getting what you want is through manipulation then THAT is the skill you take up and carry into your adult life. If instead you learned to accomplish things through a more "open" approach, then you do that. Its one of the things that you don't really grasp until you're grown, but children REALLY learn by example and pick up things that you may not even realize you're putting out there. It's cliche, but if you have children, you see it and you reflect better on what things made you the way you are. You use the strategies that experience taught you had the best outcome for you. Even if those strategies are manipulative or "wrong", it is ingrained in your thought process.

It is due to a massive hidden inferiority complex that some of these unfortunate people feel an overwhelming need to fight back by being obnoxious to others.
You can be sorry for them because they have no sense of self worth except by telling other people how to live their lives.
This is because they do not know how to deal with their own lives. Study them. They will have humoungous problems to deal with in their lives.

I couldn't agree with you more, it is such a waste of energy and time! I wish I could find a way to avoid such people but it is everywhere. I think it is because they don't know any different are won't take the time to find out. We only get one shot at this people.
