Please do not call me a liberal, for if you do, your attempted insult could not land further from home.

Increasing authoritarianism? LOL....Liberal cities like Chicago and New York have become "nanny states"

With all due respect, I'm not exactly excited with having the religion of Darwinism shoved down my throat all the time either...

1. By definition, It is liberals, not conservatives, who favor big government

2. How far are you willing to take privacy? One could argue that convicting someone of murder is a breach of the "right to privacy."

3. Here I agree with you.
4. Again, here I agree.
5. I don't see how bringing religion into politics is so horrible, nor do I see how it is done excessively.

6. When there are animals in a position to destabilize the world's oil supply, we should certainly put ourselves in a position to intervene.

7. I don't know what you mean.

8. It's easy to say that now. Hindsight is 20/20. It has nothing to do with looking at a situation and saying, "That's unrealistic." It's about looking at what needs to be done and saying, "We're going to do this, whether or not it appears to be unrealistic."

All of them have their annoying aspects to real conservatives but the dumbest aspect is probably the excessive religion. When one understands that most Neo-cons are former leftists that "converted" to part of the conservative movement and brought a "religious fervor" adherence to their new position then you can explain this aspect of the movement (doesn't mean we have to agree with it). Unfortunately, that "religious" zeal informs the other seven aspects you listed above. It looks like the end of the Bush Administration may be Neo-conservatism's swan song though. As it collapses, Reaganite conservatives and paleo-cons should be ready to take hold of the party again.

#3 Tax cuts during a time of war, plus unwavering, unquestioning support of all policies and actions of Israel's government. I'm not saying that Israel is always wrong; it's just not ALWAYS right. And, this type of support has hurt the US in its dealings with other countries in the middle east
