Which one do you prefer and why??
I prefer a gas range to cook on. i think they are safer (you can actually see when they are on...) and you can still use the burners when the power is out....not so with and electric stove....

I WAS SCARED TO DEATH ABOUT GAS I ALWAYS SAID I WOULD NEVER HAVE A GAS STOVE WELL LET ME TELL YOU.....I LOVE IT I WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO ELECTRIC... YES YOU CAN USE THE BURNERS WHEN THE POWER IS OUT JUST BE CAREFUL TURN THE BURNER AND HOLD THE MATCH TO THE ROUND THING WHERE THE FLAME COME OUT. I DON'T DO IT MY HUBBY DOES IT I'M AFRAID I WILL BLOW MYSELF UP.

I have an electric stove but I miss my gas range. When the power was out, you could still eat. The only problem I had was burning up my pots and pans with the high heat from the gas. I probably should have bought better cookware or learned to cook at a temperature other than high! LOL

When it comes to cooking an electric stove doesn't even compare to a gas stove. As far as safety I think a gas stove is preferred.

I have always had a gas stove, but switching from electric to gas, you will have to call the gas company and they will usually help with installation. If you don't have fuel lines in your neighborhood the gas company will rent you a tank , which they will deliver you gas a few times a year.

Our apartment has an electric range. I agree with you. A gas range would be my preference.

I made sure when we bought our house that I bought a gas range. You can control the temp better.
