Now for a tip about what NOT do do with silver. Never put a solid silver item anywhere near rubber. If the rubber rubs against the silver, it will cause a black mark that will never go away. I don't know why, but it just does.

Buy a silver polishing cloth. You can get them anywhere (Wmart for example). Also, if you store your cleaned silver on this cloth, it wont tarnish again.

You can soak it in amonia. It's cheap, really works well, except for the odor. Place it somewhere with good ventilation.
