Guys, I have a situation wherein my team does not want to work on weekends but considering the criticality of task, my boss expects us to work on weekends and get the things sorted out. How do I get both of them to understand each other's concerns and derive a solution to this problem. I do want to upset either of them.

The best idea would be a round table discussion. If possible, get everyone in the room at the same time to discuss the needs of the project and the availability of the personnel.

When scheduling the meeting tell everyone that wishes to participate that they will need to come up with a solution. This way you will have some viable options to present the management team.

I would suggest having everybody get together to discuss why working weekends is important. It's important for everyone on the team to realize how critical it is to completing the task, and to further explain that it won't last forever. Won't be easy, but when people feel they're involved in the process and are updated as to reasons why something is the way it is, it generally makes the situation more manageable and "happy."
