Yes there is culture in japan. Isn't there culture in every country?! In tokyo, you will find a much more modern culture with skyscrapers blocking out the sky, a very poorly designed city by the way! For all of the japanese ingenuity that we've come to expect, it is quite shocking how poorly tokyo is laid out and what an unbelievably ugly city it is! Don't expect many parks or gardens or nature like you have seen in The Last Samurai! However, other parts of japan are rural and have more interesting things to see. I would recommend you visit Kamakura in the Kangawa prefecture. But it's best to visit in July - November. Winter is freakin' cold! And spring it rains or is grey nearly every day!
How friendly the japanese people are to foreigners is debatable!

Culture in Japan? Like no shoes in house? It keeps your house clean. Or it's OK to make noise when you have soup noodles, soup and tea? People think you are suppose to, at least for soup noodles and traditional Japanese soup and tea. And there are many sky scrapers in big cities like Tokyo, on the other hand there are still traditionally build houses and temples ant shrines? That kind of things are you talikng about?
There are so many different but interesting things in Japan, and the best way to find out is to visit there.
But mind you, if you go to places like Tokyo, you should avoid travelling during rush hour. That 'packed train' thing is real. I know, I have seen it, and been there.

Daniel, here we crash again. You are forgetting that the population of Tokyo alone is equal to the population of entire Canada. Where remains the question of beauty?
The culture in Japan varies from place to place. The rural set up is entirely different from the urban one. Except that some basic values don't change. People are usually friendly -and if not, or if they sound indifferent, it's because they don't usually understand no foreign language. Only a Very few understand English.

Japanese Culture? Um, which part? The religious culture? Pop culture, traditional, modern technology? Japan is now such a mix of different cultures of past/modern/western.
(eg. ancient shrine surrounded by skyscrapers)
What I love about japan is the Japanese. they treat people differently depending on the relationship (work related people, close friends etc) but once you can get through those layers they are the nicest kindest and very selfless people.
Im sure that is the same everywhere but I had many special friendships made in Japan.
If I never went to a shrine again, it wouldnt phase me, Its the people that I miss.

I would like to go to see the bodies of the living mummies. Those guys were cool.
I would also like to see the Edo period monuments. The dance machine nightclub (like in the film Wasabi). The museums. The restaurants where the table is a nude woman. The golf boats (I hate golf but on a boat... who could resist?).
I would also like to see all the things that appear in films.
