I say women. When I hear my guy friends talking about a girl they like I never hear them discussing what her job is or how much money she makes etc. Can't stand gold-diggers!

Since being materialistic has nothing to do with spending money. Rather it is the want of material things.
Personally, I have seen more women than men wanting all kinds of stuff that they dont have.
However, that does not mean that the men are devoid of materialistic attitudes. I just think that women are more than men.

Men... women are typically the financial counterpart in the relationship. They handle the budgeting, finances etc... so they are less likely to spend money on anything materialistic. As opposed to men, they typically don't know the financial situation and have the "keeping up with the jones'" attitude. So they are more likely to have the designer tastes as opposed to the females adaptation of yardsale clothing.

In my family I would say men.
They always want bigger/better the new and improved.
They never seem happy with what they got, at least not for long, of course they are both computer gurus maybe it goes with the job.

Women in that they are sitting on a gold mine and also control more than half the wealth in the world. Yet they still b*tch!

It has nothing to do with gender, it just depends on the person. We are individual beings, we are not ruled by what we have between our legs. lol.
