Technically, we are Old World monkeys, and yes, we have pretty much taken over the world. Of course, purely in numbers, no primate will ever take over the world--there are far to many flies, mosquitos, bacteria, etc. than people on earth.
If you are talking about monkeys in the sense of howler monkeys, baboons, etc., I do not believe that they will ever take over. From first-hand experience, I know that howler monkeys are perfectly content hanging out in the jungle canopy.

P.S.: For those of you arguing about primate behaviour, chimps are very aggressive and have been known to capture and kill young children. At times, they will even killed men. Yes, baboons are aggressive, as well. As for bonobos, well, they have a make-love-not-war philosophy.

Maybe not the WORLD (but not for lack of trying), stlil have you looked at Bush anytime in the last few years? Regardless of your views, is he not the PERFECT monkey poster child ??!

P.S. People who think APES are more aggressive don't know jack about primatology! Baboons, for instance (monkeys) are FAR more aggressive than any ape (chimp, gorilla, etc.).

Planet of the Apes? No, I don't think so. People kill and eat monkeys, but monkeys do not kill and eat people.
Monkeys do not migrate great long distances.

There are already some "monkeys" that rule the world and we are little monkeys that follow someonse dream, and do nothing about ourselves, don't you think :):):)

Monkies will not be able to rule over mankind and I believe you stand a better chance as to being our ruler because you will be able to communicate with mankind and the monkey won't.

We monkeys have tried, but of course it's absurd. This planet has always been, is now, and always will be ruled by bacteria.
