I am trying to get a book published, and a good lead says they need a query letter. What is a query letter and how do I write one???

basically a query letter is intended to introduce yourself and your story idea to a publisher or agent

A query letter is a letter that you send to the publisher, detailing your book and asking if the publisher is interested. I'd suggest seeing if your library has a book on the subject (Mine has several) and check it out. Writer's Digest is a good resource.
