i think he is trying to say that even though he misses he ex girlfriend and that he is glad that they still talk he really wants to be faithful to his gf...its wat everyone feels when they see their ex or even hear about them they still have feelings for tehm but they might be in a new relationship and things are going good so they dont want anything to riun that... its a good song and it has a lot of meaning to it.

It's really pretty straightforward. In an interview, Austin Winkler (lead singer of Hinder and writer of the song) said that he wrote the song about his x girlfriend calling when his current girlfriend was in the other room. Lips of an angel is a song about a man, who is with another woman current g/f, fiancee, wife, WHATEVER it's a new relationship, His old flame calls him and (everyone can relate to having one you can't let go of) His ex calls Crying on the phone and like anyone with a heart he shows compassion, he current g/f doesn't know he still talks to her. And although he's happy with his current he sometimes wishes she was his ex because he still has those DEEP rooted feelings. Enjoying hearing from her just brings a smile to his face but knowing that he'll have to hang up is Extremely tough on him. And he wants so bad to stay faithful to his current g/f but every time she calls.......he just get's that urge and all his old feelings come forth from tellin her that he dreams of her and that he keeps his conversations with her from his current g.f.

it's basicall a song about how love regardless of whether you broke up form someone can still KICK your ***. A beautiful song though(hinders version not the NEW country version by jack ingram)

most of the others are right, but after talking to austin a bit, the story behind it is a bit different than what they have. girl broke up with the guy and he got a new girl. old girl thinks she made a mistake (you don't get that from the song) and calls him. he still has feelings for her and talks to her and tells her that he does but he is moving on because she makes it hard to be faithful. as for what it means when the guy sings it to you, i'd say he has a thing for you. he has a girl, but he likes you and is testing the waters to see how you feel. if i were you, i'd ask him flat out what he meant by it and tell him that if he does have feelings for you (and you have some for him too of course), he'll have to break it off with the girlfriend first. good luck

Just saw that video on VH1 this morning. I think it means he is still in love with an old girlfriend. Even though he has a new one.

The song starts out with him whispering on the phone to a woman, saying he can't talk very loud, because his girlfriend is in the next room.
