Based on my coaching experience, at that age, really start on their off-hand dribbling and foot work. A few drills I would recommend are:

Dribbling drills:

1. Warm-up by dribbling in one spot. Start with the right hand, then switching it every 30 seconds to the other hand. Do this for five minutes. Make sure they are bent down like a point guard and not standing up, and they are pounding that ball to the court.
2. Using cones, have them dribble through it, switching to the proper hand to protect the ball.
3. Last dribbling drill I would do is just have them dribble up and down the court with their back turned away from the direction they are heading...have them zig-zag up and down the court, switching to the proper dribbling hand as necessary.

Footwork Drills:

1. With knees bent properly like in a defensive position, you on one side of the court, and the team on the other side, have them sprint toward the first FT line...as they approach the FT line, make sure they are under control for a jump stop, do a reverse or forward pivot, and hold. Then blow a whistle, or signal for them to sprint to the half-court line, do the same thing, and then the next FT line. Do a forward pivot first, then the next set a reverse pivot. Do as much set as you feel necessary, but usually 5 sets of each.
2. Have them go up and down the court, zig-zagging, in a defensive stance. This will improve their defensive footwork...remember to make sure they do quick slide and both feet should not come close to each other.

Hope this helps and not too lengthy.

The key to coaching 11 year olds is to keep their attention and focus. You can loose them easily. The 3 man weave may or may not work - it really depends on the skill level of your players. A skill drill that I do challenges my team to really focus and have fun at the same time. I line up the entire team in a single file line at half court. I ask everyone to dribble to a predetermined spot on the court (usually a 10-12 foot shot). I don't say anything else and let the team go. I keep track of how many baskets are made. Typically, my team is all ful of themselves and make about 30% of the shots. I have the team line up again. This time, I challenge them. If they can make 60% of the shots for the entire team, then I have to run a set of line grabbers. If my team doesn't make the required baskets, then they run line grabbers. It is absolutely amazing how the concentration and desire increases as they begin the challenge. I find my players really get into it and encourage each other and celebrate "beating the coach". I repeat the exercise a couple of times and increase the number of baskets needed to be made each time. 95% of the time, they beat me and my team loves to see me run as they line up and give me a hard time as I run. Little do they know, that adding a little "pressure" makes them concentrate and improve their game. I've seen my shooting percentage go up a bit and it is a great amount of fun, although running line grabbers for a half and hour kind of sucks for coach! :) Good luck!
