I am 36 weeks and 1 centimeter dialated My ob says i have no mucus plug, my cervix is thin what does it mean?

I think this means you will be having a baby pretty soon. Once you lose your mucus plug your body is working to thin the cervix (effacement) it is to make room and prepare for birth. It could still be a matter of a week or so but I'd say you are getting close and your body is doing a really good job of preparing. When your cervix is 100 percent thinnned (effaced) and you are dilated 10 centimeters then you are ready to deliver right then. Already having a thin cervix and working on that dilation should mean things will progress smoothly and steadily.

Your cervix thins and dilates. It must be 100% thinned ( effaced) and dialated to a 10 before you are supposed to begin pushing. Your mucus plug is held in your cervix through your pregnancy, helps prevent infection,etc. When your cervix begins to thin out and dialate, it is normal to begin to lose your mucus plug.
