Women's rights in Islam.
Divide up the class down the middle, make one half take the position that women are granted more rights in Islam than elsewhere. Have the other half defend the position that Islam does poorly in women's rights.
Also, consider that because values differ, some people consider it a RIGHT to be able to veil and as a good, positive thing. In christianity, it says to cover the head out of obedience/subservience to the husband. But it does NOT say that in Islam. It is only for obedience to God and the benefits that come from it.
So, the latest ethical question is whether women should be forced to remove their Islamic veils (headscarf and/or face veil) in an effort to morally and ethically liberate them? Or is that action unethical?

funny you ask, I just posted a question that I believe to be quite controversial. Basically, if you use race as a basis for judgment, you are a called a racist. same goes with sex and being a sexist. so why excactly is it wrong to make generalisations ( or state facts, statistics...) based on sex or race, like one does with everything else? we function with categories... we talk about nerds, gangsters, football players, doctors, politicians, teenagers, ... why not whites or males?
The point is to always make a distinction between a category and an individual, and not apply stereotypes to individuals.
