Read the lyrics and break it down.

Where'd you go?
I miss you so
Seems like its been forever that you've been gone
[[ Its the girl singing or thinking this]]

She said somedays I feel like ****
Somedays I wanna quit and just be normal for a bit
I don't understand why you have to always be gone
I get along but your trips always feel so long
And I find myself trying to stay by the phone
'Cause your voice always helps me to not feel so alone
But I feel like an idiot, working my day around a call
And when I pick up I don't have much to say, so
[[ She feels horrible because shes all alone and without him and its hard on her, and sometimes she just wants to end it because its hurting her and the family. She waits for a call because then she feels like hes there with her. She feels stupid because she does things but she makes sure shes there for his call. She doesnt have much to say because shes upset with him.]]

I want you to know its a little f***** up that
I'm stuck here waiting, at times debatin
Telling you that I've had it with you and your career
Me and the rest of the family here singing
[[ She thinks it rediculous that things have to be this way, taking care of the family, and doing things by herself while hes gone and not at home helping with the family. ]]

You know, the place where you used to live
Used to barbeque with burgers and ribs
Used to have a little party every halloween
with candy by the pile but now
you only stop by every once in a while
S**t
I find myself just filling my time
With anything to keep the thought of you from my mind
I'm doing fine and I'm plannin' to keep it that way
You can call me if you find that you have something to say
And I'll tell you
[[ She liked it at the place they used to live because she probably felt normal there and like a family. He was home all the time having parties, and there for the kids' holidays. Now that hes gone shes just doing stuff to keep the pain and him from her mind. ]]

I would do the rest but its gonna get longer, but I hope you get the point. You can check out the lyrics for yourself and really read them.

Cool. Never knew who did that song. Thanks. You might want to check out The Fray. Unfortunately there aren't many songs out there that combine a sweet voice with piano and rap. Sorry. Here's some other suggestions for missing someone. My Immortal - Evanesence When September Ends - Green Day Here's to the Night - Eve 6 Hey There Delilah - Plain White Tees Missing You - Aaliyah Foolish Games - Jewel My December - Linkin Park So Far Away - Carole King

I've always thought it implied a family that was seperated a long time because of work/family issues/etc. So that the main singer was expressing the feelings of working and living as a single parent? I'm not sure though!

the song is sung by a woman whose husband remains away from home most of the time due to work pressure.the woman always has to wait by the door,by the phone, take care of their child alone and at the end of the day is left nowhere to roam or recreate.so she is sad and sings how this worldly duties don't give people time to share a little love

well to me, it meant that a loved one was slowly drawing away, and was avoiding or running. and the "singer" was trying to stay as close as possible to the loved one but she/he kept drawing away and, the other he/she finally gave up the chase.
