im 37 weeks preggy and am 4 cm dialated fully effaced and baby will not drop. I am measuring at 42 weeks and after tons of test find it to be a real large baby. Im in tons of pain and having contractions for four days that are not strong enough to push baby into birth canal. Im in so much pain i cry alot from it. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do. Im running out of tolerance and am borderline drinking caster oil. PLEASE HELP.

Does your doctor know all this?? I can't believe your doctor wouldn't try inducing you since you are in so much discomfort and already 4 cm and fully effaced!!

It sounds like your body is ready to go anytime. Your baby may not drop until you are fully in labor. With my third ( who was also big..8lbs 15 oz at 38 1/2 weeks ) I got to the hospital, dialated to a 7 and he was still not dropped! They were concerned, at first thought he might be a breech, and did an US and found him to be head down. They of course wouldn't break my water becUSE THEY FEARED a proplapsed cord, so they just had me keep UPRIGHT, in the tub, walking, etc. About an hour later, he HAD dropped, they broke my water and he was born shortly after.
Being you are at a 4 and fully effaced, I would say you should go into full fledge labor any time, if you are not already. I would reccommend going to your L&D and having them hook you up to a monitor..your contractions may be much closer together than what you feel. That was also the case with my third. I had soo little pain, I went to the hospital thinking they would send me home, to find out I was at a 7! I bet you will have your baby here very very soon, and the pain will be gone! :-)

Go to the doctor.
Caster oil is an urban legand. You NEED to get into the hosptial now. I'm guessing those contractions you had for 4 days have been intense. Get to the doctor NOW. You and the baby could be in danger.
Get off the computer and GO!
The fact that you're "very swollen" really concerns me. Your blood pressure could be incredibly high right now. Seriously--get off the computer and go to the doctor.

Sit on a birthing ball (it helps move baby into birthing postion), you should contact your labor and delivery nurse right away you may need a c-section. I went through it with my second child I was in full labor for 2 days, I ended up having a emergency c-section because he was 11 lbs, he would not move into the birth canal!!

get up and walk. baby cant drop if your laying all the time. take a couple tylenol and walk alot. this will help. you can stay laying or sitting. if you have an exercise ball bounce on it. that will help. your in labor. time your contractions. you may need drugs to help you get them strong enough and since baby is big you might want to ask about a c-section and call your doctor now

Oh dear...does the hospital know how much pain you are in? Im guessing you have tried warm baths etc. For you to be in tears over this pain is not good..if your doc doesnt know how your feeling i suggest you give the hospital a call and let tham know how bad it is..and that your not coping with it! Maybe they can help you along..good luck

You need to call your doctor. No matter what the doctors and nurses tell you its still YOUR body and YOUR baby! If your 37 weeks pregnant, and having that much pain, you should be in the hospital honey. Good luck!

Caster oil worked for my sister
But nowadays they aren't suppose to leave you go this long.
I'm so sorry I hope all goes well for you and the baby, I will have you both in my prayers.
C-section an option?

CALL YOUR DOCTOR IF YOU'RE SWOLLEN. I was 37 weeks with my first daughter and he induced me because my bp was high and I was swollen all over. With you being 4cm dialated you need to be in a hospital. Go now!!!

skip the castor oil it will cause your bowels to empty and start contractions (theoretically) but will not make the baby move into position.
what can help:
pelvic tilts
squats
scrubbing the floor on your hands and knees (really)
warm compress on your stomach and cold on your back (babys tend to put there back to heat)
laying on your back with a rolled towel under your lower back (not for longer than 15 min at a time and not if it makes you dizzy, it makes the baby tuck his chin and move down)
