is he considered a hero? Frankly, I think he was an idiot. He missed the interstate exit and decided to take a mountain road in the middle of a rain/snow storm putting his family in danger. After EIGHT whole days of being stuck with cell phones and a car, he goes looking for help dressed in only tennis shoes and a sweater, with the temperature dropping down to 20's at night.
I'm sorry to say, it was unfortunate someone had to die, but he is this year's recipient of the Darwin award.

i'm sure all of us can say what we would do in that type of situation but you don't know how you'd react to a situation once you truly face it. from what i hear in the news he was a hero. the police and rescue workers agreed that the family did the right thing on running the heat during the day and using their own body heat at night and running the tires to use up more heat once they ran out of gas. for you to call Mr. James Kim an idiot is insensitive to his family and friends.
