If ND was in the Big 10 even with their 10-2 mark they are the 4th best team and not eligible (see Wisconsin for details). They have not beaten a team that finished in the top 25 this year, the win-loss record of the opponents they did beat is under .500, they got beat by 20+ ppoints against the 2 ranked teams they did play, they team with the best record they beat is NAVY & Ga Tech. Look at their schedules!!! Why does ND get to go????? pls explain to me.

I don't think so, but its all about the money. ND fans will buy tickets and travel to support their team. If it were about competition then Auburn or Wisconsin would be there because ND hasn't won a bowl in about 8 years. They have zero quality wins vs ranked teams, but the program is improving. I feel confident that LSU (best SEC in my opinion) will beat the Irish like a drum. ND has not faced a defense like LSU and LSU is more than capable of scoring 30 pts on the Irish defense. This one might get embarrassing for ND.

Notre Dame is a horrible team that got beat by 26 AT HOME! That fact alone should have bounced them out of the top 25. If it wasn't for the size and wallets of ND fans, they Would be playing in the Purex Laundry Soap Bowl

Well they do have a very large fan base..and tradition..as for their schedule that was made at least 5 years ago and the their schedule as been set for the next 5-8 years..and some time ago the Big 10 wanted them to be in their conference but at the last minute they turned it down..because they like their independent schedule to keep the tradition teams they played over the past 100 years or so..and as for LSU beating them they might but it will be a close game. The big advantge LSU will have it will be more of a home game for them..They shouldmof sent LSU to another BCS bowl game..

you have written lots BS. Notre Dame gets overwhelmed by using USC. there is not any way Texas Tech will pass to the national championship interest. no person is choosing Notre Dame to win. whether they beat USC they gained't pass to a BCS interest. they have lost to Syracuse, Boston college, Pittsburgh, North Carolina. i don't understand the others yet Notre Dame sucks.

Because Notre Dame has a large fan base and will sell tickets. All real college football fans know they are not a good team and should not even be ranked!!!! No they def do not deserve to get a bowl bid, but they will because it will sell tickets... we can all just sit back and watch LSU kick their asses.

No, but the BCS beyond the title game is about money and TV ratings and not about which team deserves to go.

Notre Dame goes because of their following and their TV ratings, where probably twice as many people tune in to see them lose than watch to see them win.

Because they are ND. LSU by 17. SEC is the toughest conference period, and the Tigers don't give a damn about ND's tradition.
