No, there is nothing in the laws of England which requires a referendum on any subject. I cannot say for certain, but I do not think there is anything in the laws of Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland which require referendums.

There has been at least one referendum in the past - in about 1976, there was one across all the UK about joining the European Economic Community. That was thought to be such a major step that the opinion of the people should be asked directly, rather than letting our Parliament decide. However, Parliament could have ignored the result.

not to my knowledge if there was there are a lot of folk i would like to see voted out of cabinet or even the current government back benches
