Actually, especially in 'Revenge Of The Sith', there ARE several 'aliens' present that have been featured in other Sci-fi movies. This was done on purpose. There IS an alien who's just like ET. There's even one who looks like the 'blue opera singer' from 'The Fifth Element'. And if you'll look in the background a little more, you'll be surprised at how many 'familiar faces' you can see!
