If you want a period every month may I suggest the birth control pill as long as you're a non-smoker. You are going through peri-menopause. Your periods will become less freqent and you will bleed heavier. If you had your tubes tied this period of time can be worse for you. See you doctor for treatment choices.

oh do you really want it every month w/ heavy flows and cramps. The doctors are now saying it is unnatural for a women to bleed every month. Back in the day women were always pregnant, so they had fewer periods. But you can get regulated with a birth control pill or the shot, can eliminate your period. However I think it is a sign of change of life when you start decreasing your monthlys and then they just fade away. And nonooooo then you get menopause and hotflashes.

Help with what? You're probably going through menopause.
You should talk to your doc at your next physical and tell him what's up. He or she can do a blood test to check your estrogen levels and tell if this is what's happening.
As for monthly flow, unless you go on BC pills, you probably don't have much chance of getting your period more often then you do now...unless your body starts going the other direction and you get it ALL the time. If the heavy flow bothers you, there is a procedure that can be performed that will cauterize the lining of the uterus and lighten the flow.

Given your age, if this is a newer experience yo may be starting menopause. See you doctor and ask to be sent to an OB/GYN there could be other problems. I know of several women who have had oblations done or a DNC and the problem gets resolved. Usually the periods also lighten up. Contraceptive pills will also regulate your period.

The median average of menopause is 51 years. The transition manifests by change in pattern of cycles begins 5 years before and is called perimenopause. What you are experiencing is the same transition. One can use pills but at your age risks outweigh benefits.Another condition associated with similar complaints is endomerial(uterine) hypeplasia. So you better consult a gynecologist and discuss about D &C(Dilation and curettage).
