The IRS has rules on who may claim a dependent. If you claim yourself as a dependent on your tax return & someone else claims you on theirs' the IRS computer should kick out the other return & IRS should disallow the claim. But, the dependent cannot directly choose which family member can claim him or her as a dependent.

I believe you can find out by contacting Social Security or even the IRS. Just give them your SSI# to find out who has been claiming you on their taxes. In order to claim someone they have to give them your Social Security number.
