If it is from a saltwater environment, it cannot live in fresh water...

Some species of fish and inverts come from brackish environments meaning they can live in partially fresh/salt water environments.

It can live in a freshwater aquarium for the few minutes it takes for it to die.

It cannot. It will eventually die in freshwater. They need saltwater to live.

It can't. You can't put saltwater fish in fresh and can't put fresh in salt. You'll kill it!
