I'm 34 weeks pregnant almost 2 cm dilated about 45% effaced and I have been on bedrest since 30 weeks and no sex, my doctor put me on a medicine to stop the contractions I was having. Also the baby is already in position. This week I started feeling cramps lower abdomen, and the pressure in my cervix has gotten worse to the point where my anus is feeling pressure. Also my back is KILLING me and I'm in SUCH a bad/grumpy mood. OH and finally last night, after I peed I wiped and saw some mucus, wasn't alot probably the size of a QTIP, but still having cramps. What's going on?? Do I call my doc or is this where the waiting game begins? My due date is January 21st. Is this labor or what?

Yes I would call the doctor just to be on the safe side. with your history you should be careful. I just had a baby and it does sound like your in the early stages of labour. But trust me when you water break you have go in, to be on antibiotics. Don't worry you little one will come soon and it will be a joyous time for you. Peace love and happiness for you and your little one.

Im going through the same, except im 32 weeks and been on bedrest since tuesday (2 cm dilated 60% effaced and lost my plug yesterday, with spotting)

I was given betamethsone to develope the babys lungs, but am refusing labor stopping drugs due to potential sideeffects (they are only indicated to stop labor for 24-48 hours while the steroids kick in, which im passed)

Im also dealing with the major back pain, and the pressure, and contractions day and night.

doctor (and the labor and delivery floor) say there is no reason to come in unless my water breakes, or I begin bleeding like i am having a period, but im allowed to just show up or call anytime (they will put me on a fetal heart monitor to check the baby)

dont worry too much baby's know how and when to be born! but if you have questions call and ask it never hurts!

No you are probably still dilating and the pressure you feel is the baby dropping. I had some cramping too and was losing my mucus plug gradually for about three weeks straight. I was also on bed rest. Call your dr. if you have any bleeding or feel a gush of water immediately but you may want to call and talk to the nurse about your concerns.

You say you have had 3 contractions in 25-30 mins- if you notice that these are continuing in a pattern then i would call the hospital- in any case i would probably call anyway If you aren't already then you should be timing the contractions from the start of one to the beginning of the next to calculate how far apart they are. If they are coming at regular intervals then you are definately in early labour and should get to the hospital. At 36 weeks its still classed as early but there shouldnt be too many problems. All the best

Wow call your doc definitley tell him about the pressure in your anus..this is a defintite sign that baby wants out. The mucus is another sign that it's close...your plug will come out there will be alot more than what you saw and then you'll have some withe a little blood in it Mine did that two days before my baby was born...Everybody is different. call your doctor he may want to admit you just in case....

call the doctor to be sure. but if you loose your mucus plug go to the hostpital your mucus plug will be a big glop of like watery vasaline and it will be alot like a handfull and it will be kind of stringy. or if your water breaks go to the hospital, and if your contractions get very painful where you cant stand them go to the hospital. your contractions in the begining will feel weak compared to the ones you will have when you get closer to pushing the baby out. hope this helped some

Get to the hospital, never mind calling, just go....January 21 is not that far away, so you need to address any questions, you have by a doctor. I see you history of your pregnancy and I wouldn't think twice on this one. Better safe than sorry.

Call the doctor, your labor is progressing. They more than likely would like you to get to 36 weeks but the baby should be ok if born now. get ready for steriod shots in your hips to help the babies lungs

If you haven't called the doctor already, I would do it. You probably lost part of your (I know its gross) mucus plug, there will be more to follow. After I lost mine it was like a day before I went into labor. Good Luck!

i would say it is just you body gearing up for the big day... i lost my mucus plug 3 weeks before my water broke.. plus i was on bedrest as well... i would say that the cramps you feel are just the baby dropping into the birth canal... i know it is hard to believe.. but YOU WILL JUST KNOW WHEN YOU ARE IN LABOR!!!!!! but if you have any doubts.. call you Dr.. they will tell you what to do... just in case...

oh and i was dialated to 2 for weeks and weeks before my water broke.. doesn;t mean that much!!!!! sorry...
good luck
