While I'm sure some germans (and others) still hold on to Hitler's philsophy, there is racism in every culture or group of people, and it will never totally go away.

Yeah, I agree with the most.. there will always be some stupid people that are racist, but the majority of german people are very tolerant. You just always see the rallies and parades that the neo's put on sometimes, then it looks like all germans support it, which isn't true. When the neo's come to a city, the people in the city have an anti-nazi rally, everytime. Then the police have to intervien.

"German people" are racist, tolerant, conservative, liberal, everything you can think of, given that there are about 80 million of them.
I've lived here as an "Ausländer" for 10 years and find German culture to be much like American culture, but with a higher degree of cohesion. By this I mean there is more of a tendency for people to conform to an accepted norm. For this reason, I think that -- at least in the cities that I'm familiar with (Munich, Frankfurt, etc.) -- you will be accepted or not based more upon your manner of dress and behavior than your skin color or native language. I do also notice a large generational gap (again, as I also notice in my native USA) where the elderly are less accepting of non-europeans than the young. Overall I would rate Germany as a very tolerant, liberal society, with notable exceptions (the unemployed in the former East are just riddled with Angst, foreigners are a favorite scapegoat among these disenfranchised people)
One trait I find striking about German culture is a strong anti-patriotic streak, surely due to history. Never have I seen such a willingness among people to openly complain about how bad their own nation is and how much better it is across the border.
Being american, I also observe that while many Germans are vocally opposed to current american politics, they also very favorably view Americans in general, and see the Country, USA, in a very positive light, eagerly adopting many US cultural trends themselves, while guarding against a few.

Racist people are all over the world. Racism has never been just one people.
So I don't believe that all German's are ractist, but I do believe there are some racist that live there.
Just like there are some in Africka, Sweden, China, Iraq, America etc.Racist are everywhere not just Germany

If you mean towards the Jews, I would think not. The change of thought before and during the Holocaust were more of a result of Hitler. Most people in Germany at that time had nothing against Jews and may have had many friends and colleagues who were Jewish. Hitler's influence in Germany when he came into power was so great that, to a degree, groupthink happened, and people agreed with what he said.
