A child who consistently misbehaves is possibly acting out a need to have parental boundaries set for them. Boundaries are a way of saying I love you enough to make sure you are okay. Not givng a child any boundaries is actually negligence.

This is true right on into adulthood. For an example of a different sort, How about the one of your typical Ukrainian cop: He'll pull you over just because you & your car are there and will challenge you with every point of the law. But, what he wants is a bribe, often fairly small. When he gets it, you're free to go merrily on your way. If he doesn't get it, well then you've got a big legal problem. Very effective behavior pattern (and also very real).

As previously said-a need for boundaries. Boundaries make a child feel safe.
Challenging behaviour also occurs when the child feels the need to get attention-though positive attention is,of course, preferred, negative attention is better than none if they feel they aren't getting enough.
Another reason for challenging behaviour is frustration. The inability to express themselves can make a child very upset, and in turn they will act out.

When a kid throws poop at you it means he needs to be wiped.
