Yes, you sure can. Were they the same brand of pregnancy test? Different tests have different sensitivities.

Also, you would have used first morning urine on the first test. I'm sure the concentration of hcg (the hormone that pregnancy tests detect) was higher.

Was the first test CLEARLY positive? As in a second pink line? Some tests are notorious for evaporation lines.

How late are you? If you are not late yet, or if your period is due now, then the hormone level will still be real low. I can surely see getting a + on one test, then later the same day getting a negative. Take another test in the morning.

That's a great resource. Good luck!

Yes, this can happen.

Even if you are using the same brand of test, from the same batch (from the same box of "two tests"), this can happen. The reason that many tests suggest testing with your first morning urine is because hcg (human chorionic gonadotrophin, which is what the tests detect) is usually going to more concentrated first thing in the morning. Even if you are pregnant, urine that is diluted (did you drink a lot of water before taking the second test? had you urinated only a short time before taking the test? etc.) may yield a negative result because the level of hcg is not sufficient enough to be detected or to register as positive. And early on in pregnancy the level of hcg is low to begin with. Your best bet is to wait a few days and test again. That said, whether you want the result to be positive or negative waiting a couple of days is agonizing and that advice may not be realistic! In that case: test again in the morning with your undiluted, first morning urine.

Good luck!

Most often, positive results are never wrong. Negative results can be off sometimes. Wait a few days and test again
