point means decimal point
thus point eight would be .8.
This is 80% of a mile or 4/5ths of a mile
or twenty percent less than a mile.
Your track is 4224 feet,
You would need to run 1056 more feet to reach a mile.

Point 8 miles refers to .8 miles
This means that you have run 8/10 of the mile.
Or in another words if you divide the track up into 10 even parts, you have run through 8 of the 10.
So only 2 parts remain or .2 miles.

If the track is 0.8 miles long, it means one lap around the track is 0.8 miles (or 4/5 of a mile). You'd have to run 1 1/4 laps to run one mile.

By "Point 8 miles long", I assume that means 0.8 miles. In which case 0.2 miles further would make a mile.

0.8 miles
if you divide a mile into 10 parts 08 mile will be eight parts
you need two more parts to make a mile which would be 0.2 mile
