I don't know why the US would invade Venezuela, they didn't blow up any of our buildings!
gas prices would go up for a while, unless we could finally start drilling more in AK and the Gulf.

As of yesterday Chavez was providing/selling oil to low income people in the United States at reduced prices. Besides, it's doubtful that Chavez would follow through on his threat anyway. It would not be a wise move to invade Venezuela. The world knows all about 'invasions' now, even those who never went to school.
Not a wise move.

It has consistently been our coverage to purchase stuff anyplace we are in a position to, no rely if the political ideology of the government. funds first concepts later. That mentioned I choose oil from Venezuela, the place I finance tyranny, over oil from the mideast the place i may well be financing conflict and terrorism each and every time I replenish. And that mentioned, Chavez should not be pres for existence, no you will serve greater suitable than the authorized one or 2 words - not Chavez, not Putin, not Musharif in Pakistan (sorry i'm unable to spell his call and in assessment to Bush I admit it) and not a Bush right here. yet that's variety of a separate concern, isn't it? one greater element - oil is a finite commodity, if we don't purchase from Venezuala we are able to get it from someplace else and the human beings who have been identifying to purchase it someplace else gets it from Venezuela. internet 0.

No, nothing will happen expect for a minor price change which will probably not last that long. We can always get oil from somewhere else. Now, if Chavez the socialist pig is found to have terror ties, which I suspect, there are other ways to remove him from power without direct military force.

Chavez is an idiot who is taking his country down the wrong path. Unfortunately he was just reelected by a convincing margin in an election whose results no one, not even his opponent, are questioning. We may not like it but we can't invade a county like Iraq with the stated goal of bringing them democracy, then turn around and invade Venezuela because we don't like who their electorate selected.
BTW, it's their oil, not ours.

unlikely, our military is already stretched to its limit.
if venezuela cuts our oil supply (and that's a BIG if) most likely the other opec members would increase their production to make up for venezuela. remember, the saudis are still pretty close friends with us. and since their increase in production is only to offset venezuela's cut opec wouldn't worry about a large change in oil prices.
but then again, can the other opec members increase their production enough to offset venezuela's cut in production. that i don't know.
