I would like to put up some sort of notice to stop all the 'cold callers' I get at my house. Where can I buy such a thing that can be put up on the wall of my house? Thanks

I am pretty certain that if you contact your local trading standards office they will be able to help you. They generally put up signs in the area though, like the neighboorhood watch scheme do.
I put up a sign on my front door where i used to live and that did the trick brilliantly. I can not remember exactly word for word what i wrote on it, but it was something like.......... 'With respect, we do not buy at this door, nor do we require free newspapers or catologues. Thank you' ......i did look in my local shops but couldn't find anything that said what i wanted it to.
I just typed up my little piece in large bold print, put it in a plastic sleeve and selotaped it onto my letterbox on my front door. I think as long as you are polite, the people who are delivering and selling will respect that - and as much as it is annoying, i guess they are only trying to make a bit of money themselves.

Don't do it. They seek out places with such signs as they are often posted by people with low sales resistance who have purchased unwanted items in the past. I don't answer my door unless I look out the window and identify the person first. People say this is rude. I say the salesmen are rude coming uninvited to my home.

Our town passed an ordinance that requires all door to door sales etc. to register with the town and get a permit. Only 2 allowed per person/organization per year. If homeowner wants to op-out. we can get a sign that says " No Solicitors" and post it by our driveway. Any transgressions would be treated as a misdemeanor and subject to a fine and/or imprisonment. We get the signs at HomeDepot Lowe's etc.

A sign that says "Tresspassers wil be shot" will give people the message.

I answer the door with a butcher knife and it seems to make people uncomfortable.

I put up a sign that said "this door will not be answered unless you are expected, with an appointment". and for flyers, "please do not leave any flyers or unaddressed mail. we are trying to save trees" I just wrote it up myself and taped it on the mailbox (which is at the door)

Most hardware stores have "No soliciting" signs that you can put up, and some of them have adhesive backings so you can stick them on or near your front door.
