Agree with the others. It was a part of the Roman Empire, and then the Roman Empire fell.... Sort of. The Western Roman Empire continued to hold Britain, untill it finally fell completely.... The Byzantine Empire, or Eastern Roman Empire, didn't try to take over the lands that had been controlled by the Western Roman Empire, and so Britan was left to fend for itself. Then other peoples began to invade, and the Britains slowly stopped being the Britains from before the Roman invasion, and became the English.... Too bad that happened.
This is with considering Britain to be the land of the Brittons, south of the Picts and Scots.
