It can sometimes, but it depends. I've gone through it but I take vitamin supplements that are like the body's lost hormones, so I'm actually looking and feeling healthier than before. Plus, no more PMS. (No more period, thank you.) There are also so many things you can do these days to keep yourself looking good. Staying out of the sun, eating right, exercise all help, plus there are non-surgical things the dermatologist can do that keep your skin looking fabulous (the things they do with a light peel & lasers alone is a miracle these days). Don't despair!

Yes it can make a woman look older due to the lack of estrogen. The lack of estrogen is what the skin needs for its elasticity. The skin tends to get drier.

Personality wise...definitly it can affect it!!! Many women feel like they are going crazy! Simple hormones can bring you back to earth. Hormones are not a bad thing. Hundreds of thousands of women take them. Think of it this way, if you ever took birth control pills, the hormones in that are higher then the hormones they give you in hormone pills for menopause. They can also prescribe you plant derived hormones. But even the regular hormones are great!! It may take a little time to find the right dose but it will help you fell back to your old self. Just know without hormones your body can be affected more than you know. Lack of estrogen can affect your memory, vaginal dryness, emotional along with many other things.

Make sure you talk to your Gynecologist and have them run blood levels checking your hormones to make sure you are menopausal. If you are perimenopausal because at 44 that is young and if you are still having cycles, try using wild yam cream. That is a natural estrogen you can get at the local health department.

Hope this helps
