One day when I was painting a picture, my daughter said, "Mom, when I die, I want you to paint a picture and put some of my ashes in the paint." I laughed and said, "Well, I will go first, so you better paint one with my ashes in it." But things dont always go as they are supposed to, so one day I did it. I only paint landscapes, so it is a serene and beautiful plicture. I was thinking that other people that have lost a loved one may want something like this. What do you think? Is it to morbid? Is it to personal to talk about? And if I did offer this service, where would I market such a thing? I would really like your opinion.

I truly don't see anything wrong with it. You have talked about it and is what she wanted. If it brings you comfort that everytime you look at the picture you are remembering your daughter, where is the morbidity in that? As far as marketing, try funeral homes.

I am so sorry about your daughter's death.

I think it is a wonderful thing, really, to include your daughter's ashes in a painting. I am a Christian and many Christians do not believe that cremation is right but I disagree. And i can't quite agree with the idea that the ashes should just sit somewhere buried in the ground or sitting on a mantle... many people throw them to the winds, on a lake, on a mountaintop, etc.... or send them into outer space! ....

But I like your idea.... there is also a company I have read about that takes a loved ones ashes and makes jewelry out of it!!

As far as marketing..... the best thing would be to make sure all legalities are covered and then create a website, invite a reporter to do a story, etc.

do you have a website? i'd like to see your pictures!

god bless

I thin as a wish your daughter made that was very nice of you. When people die, mourning is a hard process and a very personal one at that. Marketing such a thing would have to be word of mouth at first. This may be a hard idea for people to wrap their heads around. Good luck!

Actually I saw a commerical about this last week and thought to myself, that would work for some ppl. If its what she wanted then you did the right thing. As far as this being a market thing it really depends on the person. Sorry for your lost.

There is nothing wrong with that at all, it's what you both wanted. There will always be a part of your daughter with you at all times, you also have the memories, hold on to them. So sorry for your loss.

I think it is a beautiful idea. What better way to remember the beauty and vitality of your loved one than by literally perserving them in immortal beauty? Art is an expression from the heart, and if it is important to you, then that's all that matters.

No I see nothing wrong or morbid about this...

other's might very well like this idea too...no idea how you'd get started, perhap talk with your local mortuary about it, they have the best resources available to get the word out to people about it.
