John Paul Jones attacked British Merchant ships off the coast of Scotland.
In the American Revolution, many will answer that the war took place in the 13 colonies. That's only partially true. There were skirmishes in Canada and the most famous sea battle with John Paul Jones during the American Revolution took place off the coast of Scotland! So, the war took place in more locations than just the 13 colonies.

There were fights throughout the entire 13 colonies, ranging from an attempted invasion of Canada (attacks on Quebec and Montreal) to campaigns in the southernmost colony of Georgia (St. Mary's).
No colony was spared the war...
