The only reason one shies away from a confirmation hearing, is because they have something to hide (think Kerik and Myers). Why would such a supposed "War Horse" back down so easily...hmmmmm

Obviously people have done very little research on Bolton. Try the standards: PNAC, Reagan and Bush administration appointments and his usual drivel about the US being the only superpower that matters. As for his personal past, who cares? I am far more interested on his handling of the interesting scandals from the 80's to today. Which is why, of course, he ran away instead of facing the true questions that were to come.

Don't get me wrong. The Democraps will more than likely bilk and rape us citizens as much as the Repukelicans. Difference is: Dems tend to offer lubircation, while Reps prefer it dry.

Bolton knew that he was not going to be confirmed by the Democrats. It is a sad day when a stand up guy like Bolton who represent us so admirably in the UN will not be confirmed. I guess the democrats would prefer some wimp. What has happen to this party. Pat Moynihan a tough guy democrat and former UN ambassador must be spinning in his grave right now.

Maybe I am a little bit confused by this question. I certainly am no fan of Bolton, but I understood that the SENATE was the one blocking this. There were several members in the Senate who were blocking his nomination to even come up to a vote. That certainly isn't Bolton's fault, and he didn't shy away from ANYTHING, as far as I can tell. I believe you have your facts wrong in this case

No, because Bolton's brains are in a part of the body that the light never shines on.

He didn't have the votes--that's why he shied away. There was zero chance of confirmation.
