First of all, What does she like? Find a interest and elaborate on that. Is she a movie fanatic? then buy some DVD's, popcorn, bowls, etc and create a basket. If she is into reading, do a gift certificate to a bookstore chain, etc. In buying a gift that goes along with her interests, you show her that you are getting to know her and what she likes and dislikes. We women want to know that men listen to us and understand who we are.

Plain jewellery is always nice (something silver and not too fancy), as long as it's neutral, most girls will like it. Avoid rings though, as they might seem too binding after only 3 months. Earrings and necklaces should be fine, bracelets as well. Watch what kind of jewellery she wears, If you've never seen her with a bracelet, don't buy one, she won't wear it.
Girls tend to also like anything that smells nice, scented candles, soapy stuff from the body shop, etc. If she's not very girly though, once again go with something neutral-ish, avoid overly sweet scents like strawberry or vanilla.
Perfume also works, but you would have to know whether a) she even ever wears perfume and b) what kind of perfume she wears and then get something that smells a bit similar. A few good ones are Burberry Brit, Gucci Rush, Paul Smith Floral or Armani Code. (This is coming from a not-too-girly type of girl, so those should be something most girls will like)
Other than that, what kind of music does she like? Most girls, though it might seem cheesy, will appreciate a thoughtful mix-cd.
When in doubt, find out her favourite shop (ask one of her friends maybe) and get her a gift certificat (maybe along with something small and cute like a stuffed animal). It really all depends on what kind of person she is.
Good Luck! I'm sure you'll find her something nice!

"We women want to know that men listen to us and understand who we are." ND M had the best statement, soo soo sooooOOOO true!
Hopefully you've been paying attention to your woman for the past 3 months...give her something thoughtful that you know she will enjoy. Flowers...stuffed animals....ZZZZZZZZZ! It's Christmas time, not Valentine's Day. Even men can be capable of more than the run-of-the-mill gifts when they have to be!
Jewelry is nice, but make sure it's something she'd actually wear. Pay attention to the style of what she currently wears. Personally, I am not a big fan of gold and prefer sterling silver ANY day over gold. It's just my preference, and I am sure she has preferences too.
If you are ever out shopping together, pay attention to items she points out that she likes. If conversation comes up and she talks about things that she likes, tuck that info away in your brain to be used later. Not all at Christmas time...but it helps in the future. Think Brownie points, man :-) I think it's nice when a guy gets me a present that is something I mentioned that I liked or was going to buy for myself but didn't *months* ago!
It means the world when someone gets me a present that is fully based on me and my tastes...no matter how much or little it costed.

Consider an inexpensive silver chain. You may be able to get
a good deal at a Sears or Macy's store as a result of discounts
and holiday deals.
The item isn't too expensive, but will tell her you care enough
to shop for her. You *can* take the easy way out and choose
a gift certificate, but nothing tells a girl you like her more then
when you choose a gift for her.

I would say ND M's suggestion is the way to go.
~A gift basket is thoughtful and you can show some creativity. If you are doing a movie basket (or even a basket for someone who likes to read), and she is usually cold, include a cotton throw. They don't have to be expensive (check out Bed Bath & Beyond)and she will think of you when she snuggles into it.
~Put in some snacks that she enjoys (again this is your chance to show you have been paying attention).
Good Luck! I hope you have a Merry Christmas.

Jewelry is nice-if it's serious. Clothes (like a sweater) are always a safe gift, if you know her size, but don't guess! A picture frame with a picture of you two is a nice romantic gift! A CD/DVD is a safe way to go too!

Perfume is always good, you've only been together for 3 months so you dont want to get here something to expensive and she'll use it every day. I would suggest Ralph by Ralph Lauren or Dolca & Gabana Light Blue

Framed picture of the two of you, and a stuffed animal (have your sister help you).
A necklace.
Gift certificate for a massage.
A few little bags of flour with a ribbon. Tell her it's "flowers". Funny, huh?

Get her a cheap bracelet from Wal Mart, or a picture frame with a few shots of you in it. Be creative.

When my husband and I were only dating, he got me two tickets to a concert by my favorite artist. Later, we both went, so I got to enjoy a gift twice!
