Some Christians have an idea that Halloween is based on a Pagen holiday, which I haven't researched for myself, but appears to be true. Alot of these same Christians are also using the theory that they should not worship any holidays that are not ordained or approved by God in the Bible. Which would also keep them from celebrating Christmas and Easter...

I am a Christian, who thinks and researches for myself...I don't do or believe what other people say is right until I find out for sure myself.

I always celebrated Halloween as a child, loved it...I think as long as you don't try to maim someone or perform strange rituals then let the kids and adults, for that matter have fun with it.

Most do, but some say it is just a Pagan holiday and it is wrong to do anything on that day. It is a Pagan holiday:

Samhain marks one of the two great doorways of the Celtic year, for the Celts divided the year into two seasons: the light and the dark, at Beltane on May 1st and Samhain on November 1st. Some believe that Samhain was the more important festival, marking the beginning of a whole new cycle, just as the Celtic day began at night. For it was understood that in dark silence comes whisperings of new beginnings, the stirring of the seed below the ground. Whereas Beltane welcomes in the summer with joyous celebrations at dawn, the most magically potent time of this festival is November Eve, the night of October 31st, known today of course, as Halloween.

well, my family is christian, being that we dont read the bible, and only go to church on easter, just as the majority of christians. and we do celebrate halloween. so does every other christian family I know. actually, i dont know a single person, regardless of religion, that lives in the US and does not celebrate the holiday.

halloween, much like christmas, is noting more than a hallmark holiday in this day and age. sure there are some people who still celebrate the fact that its jesus' birthday (im talking about christmas) but for the majority, the nativity story is just a nice scene to put on the front lawn next to FROSTY and SANTA CLAUS.

but, the reason that i have heard for not celebrating halloween is the fact that it is a pagen holiday, not a christian one. it has been transformed from the celebration of the Autumn season, into a ghoulish party for the devil and his followers.

but, then again, christmas is a pagan holiday as well. it is the celebration of the winter solstice, the season that allows life to renew itself in the spring. its why we decorate evergreen trees, because they remain with leaf throughout the winter.

it has been celebrated long before christ was even born, im not sure why we started to call it christmas and merged the two holidays into one.

shield your little ones the terrific way you know how. You look a physically powerful ,being concerned mom so i congratulate you on that. There are not sufficient individuals who take part in our baby's lives now a days. As for Halloween...it relatively is technically a pagan holiday yet now a days i no longer often think of that dressing up like an astronaut or a monster and getting candy from the buddies replaced into what the pagans had in techniques. there is not any ritual right here that is going against Gods regulations.

Halloween does have Pagan roots..just like lots of other holidays (Christmas, Easter etc) but the way we celebrate it nowadays, it's just for fun. Some ignorant people call it the devils holiday for some reason which is pretty funny because Pagan's do not believe in the devil.

holloween is a made up holiday. it doesn't exist.

Now... "HALLOWEEN" is a different story.

Those crazy baptists think it's the devil's holiday. They don't know about the Catholic holiday of "All Saints Day" on November 1st. That day is dedicated to all the saints.

The day before that (Halloween) the catholic church holds a requiem mass to remember all those that have died that year.

The tradition of dressing up came about in order to scare away evil spirits, not call them.

Halloween is infact part of a Pagan tradition, however, is is not about worshipping the gouls and goblins. The scary masks are actually intended to scare off the real demons. I'm christian, and in light of my knowledge on this topic, I do have some fun on Halloween. Take care

it comes from all hallows eve, which is the evening before all saints day - a christian festival - so i guess you could say their religion celebrates it in a different form. most christians do celebrate it though as it is essentially a pagan festival co-opted by retailers and has no religious ties or significance.
